Voices of the youth from Eastern Congo: “FIGHT” (video 3/3)
June 10th, 2009
Listen! Young people from Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo speak out on Condition: Critical.
FIGHT is the third film of three dedicated to the youth of Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Ex-child soldiers, who have now laid down their weapons, tell us about their part in the war that rages in Congo. They are 14, 15 and 16 years old, they were born during the war and have never known peace.
Now is a time of transition for these teenagers - between a yesterday in the midst of conflict and a tomorrow free of guns. They are searching for peace in their lives. Hear their story here.

One of the boys said he’d like to live with no more bad words and another said he’d like to live in peace - not such lofty ideas, are they?

My heart breaks to see this video. Their goals are common to all young men. I pray for the day when Africa will allow its young people to thrive, rather than chewing them and the country to pieces through all this violence.
The work done by you and others like you is invaluable. I pray for your work and your safety every day.
