Da novembre, i colpi di fucile accompagnano le nostre giornate. Trascorriamo molte notti nascosti nel bush, perché siamo stati inseguiti da gruppi armati che hanno razziato e distrutto tutto ciò che avevamo in casa. Per questo motivo siamo scappati e siamo venuti qui nel campo sfollati di Nyanzale. Un giorno sono ritornata nei nostri campi vicino a Mihara per trovare del cibo. Lì, sono stata stuprata da due uomini. All’inizio mi sono difesa, ma mi hanno picchiato con un bastone fino a sfinirmi e poi mi hanno violentato. Ho cominciato il trattamento ARV per paura di aver contratto l’AIDS. Ho paura di confessare a mio marito di essere stata violentata, non so da dove cominciare e ho paura di essere punita.

i wish, the men, your husband can, under the grace of God, listen to you, accompany you in your suffering…You shouldn’t feel guilty for this and no husband and no man should shun you because you have been raped. You did all you could to defend yourself. You have nothing to be guilty about. You are a child of God. And God loves you. May God Almighty protect you and keep you and convert husband’s attitudes towards women who are raped.
May Jesus-Christ heal you and strengthen you in these horrible events you are living.
