Seit November haben wir täglich Schießereien gehört. Wir haben uns viele Nächte in den Wäldern versteckt. Aber wir wurden von bewaffneten Gruppen verfolgt, die zuvor unser Haus zerstört und alles, was im Haus war, geplündert hatten. Deshalb sind wir geflohen und leben jetzt in diesem Camp für Vertriebene in Nyanzale. Eines Tages bin ich auf unsere Felder nahe Mihara zurückgekehrt, um Nahrung zu holen. Da haben zwei Männer versucht, mich zu vergewaltigen. Zuerst konnte ich sie abwehren, aber sie haben mich mit Stöcken geschlagen, bis ich erschöpft war. Dann haben sie mich vergewaltigt. Ich wurde medizinisch behandelt, weil ich eine Infektion fürchtete. Jetzt habe ich Angst davor, meinem Ehemann die Vergewaltigung zu gestehen. Ich weiß nicht, wie ich es erklären soll. Ich fürchte, dass ich bestraft werde.

i wish, the men, your husband can, under the grace of God, listen to you, accompany you in your suffering…You shouldn’t feel guilty for this and no husband and no man should shun you because you have been raped. You did all you could to defend yourself. You have nothing to be guilty about. You are a child of God. And God loves you. May God Almighty protect you and keep you and convert husband’s attitudes towards women who are raped.
May Jesus-Christ heal you and strengthen you in these horrible events you are living.
