“The woman is capable” is the cheerful theme song for a group of volunteers in Doruma, in the Haut-Uélé region of DRC. They are a volunteer group supporting women and girls who have survived from rape and captivity by the Lord’s Resistance Army.

Je suis tellement fière de ces femmes, en tant que jeune Congolaise/Canadienne, ca me fait beaucoup de peine d’apprendre à propos des souffrences de mon peuple à cause de la guerre, surtout les femmes et les enfants. Mais cette chanson me rappelle que quelque soit les difficuletés, il y a toujours de l’espoir.
I’m so proud of these women, as a young Congolese/Canadian girl, it hurts me a lot to know of the suffering of my people because of war, especially the women and children. But this song reminds us that no matter what the circumstance, there’s always hope.
